Make your own healthy hair salon
A healthy kapsalon is a variation on the popular dish usually served in snack bars and fast food restaurants. The traditional dish consists of fries covered with shawarma, cheese, lettuce and sauces. Here's a healthier version of the hair salon that you can make yourself:
Ingredients for a healthy hair salon
- Sweet potato fries
- Chicken breast (or a vegetarian alternative such as tofu)
- Mixed lettuce (e.g. iceberg lettuce, arugula and spinach)
- Diced tomatoes
- Cucumber cubes
- Red onion (optional)
- Low-fat cheese or a lighter cheese variant
- Low-fat yogurt (as an alternative to the sauces)
- Garlic
- Paprika powder
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions for preparation of a healthy hair salon recipe
- Preheat the oven to the temperature recommended for the sweet potato fries. Fry the fries according to the instructions on the package, but use as little oil as possible.
- Cut the chicken fillet (or the vegetarian alternative) into strips. Marinate the meat in a mixture of olive oil, garlic, paprika powder, salt and pepper. Fry the chicken fillet in a pan until done.
- Prepare the low-fat yogurt sauce by mixing low-fat yogurt with garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
- Prepare the vegetable salad by mixing the mixed lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumber cubes and possibly sliced red onion.
- Place the baked sweet potato fries on a plate or in an oven dish. Place the fried chicken fillet strips on top. Sprinkle some low-fat cheese over the fries and chicken.
- Place the whole thing briefly in the oven so that the cheese melts.
- Remove the kapsalon from the oven and serve it with the vegetable salad and the low-fat yogurt sauce.
